Toscana Country Club is a private, guard-gated community in south Indian Wells developed by Sunrise Company, the desert homebuilder behind several of the valley's best-known clubs. Its 631 homes and estate homesites are wrapped around two Jack Nicklaus Signature courses, a spa and a sports club with tennis, pickleball and bocce. The look is Mediterranean throughout, with arches, courtyards and loggias. Toscana suits buyers who want a newer home, serious golf and a full social calendar, a few minutes from El Paseo.

The golf

Both courses are Jack Nicklaus Signature designs, and they were built to feel different. The South Course, open since 2005, rolls through lush landscaping with dramatic elevation changes and sweeping greens. The North Course is the desert layout, routed through arroyos, rock outcrops and native plantings, with a ninth hole that looks up at Eisenhower Mountain and the Club Villa. The North was finished in stages: its last eight holes were built starting in late 2014, which brought Toscana to the full 36 holes it has today. Both courses stretch past 7,000 yards from the back tees, so there is plenty of length for strong players, while forward tees keep things friendly. Practice facilities include a double-ended range, a short game area and the Bill Harmon Performance Center for instruction.

Clubhouse and amenities

Life centers on the Club Villa, where dining runs from the casual Il Caffe to Il Forno Trattoria and its wine cellar, plus La Cucina and a lounge called the Den. Spa Bella Vita handles treatments and wellness, and the Sports Club has a pool, tennis, pickleball and bocce. The club also books private celebrations, and the calendar fills through the season with tournaments, winemaker dinners, fitness classes, dance lessons and wellness talks. Because so much happens inside the gates, many owners find they rarely need to drive anywhere during the season, though El Paseo's shops and restaurants are only a few minutes away.

Membership

Toscana is a private equity club, and its membership page lists two resident categories. Resident Golf gives full access to the club, including both courses. Resident Sports covers everything except the golf courses and golf practice areas, which makes it a good fit for tennis and pickleball players or spa regulars. Both categories are capped, at 550 golf memberships and 175 sports memberships, and new members go through an approval process that the club coordinates after a home sale closes. Listing sites generally describe membership as available rather than mandatory with a home purchase, so buyers should confirm the terms for a particular property with the club before writing an offer.

Homes and neighborhoods

Toscana was planned as a finite community of 631 residences and estate homesites, and the developer reports that nearly all of them have sold, so most buying today is resale. Homes blend Mediterranean influences with California indoor-outdoor living: vine-covered arches, courtyards, patio bars, pools and spas, and on many plans a separate guest house beside the main villa. The market here is firmly luxury. Toscana's own sales office reports 55 sales in 2025 totaling more than $193 million, and Sunrise Company has described pricing across the community as running from about $2.5 million to $13 million.

Life at the club

Toscana feels like a village. Homeowners walk or cart to dinner, regular games form quickly, and the social calendar gives newcomers an easy way in. The setting at the south end of Indian Wells puts the Santa Rosa Mountains close by, and the security of 24-hour guarded gates appeals to owners who spend part of the year elsewhere. The season runs from fall through spring, when the dining rooms, courts and courses are at their busiest, and the year-round event calendar keeps the club active for owners who stay on.

Questions

Is Toscana Country Club private?

Yes. Toscana is a private club behind 24-hour guarded gates. The golf courses, spa and dining are reserved for members and their accompanied guests.

How much does it cost to join Toscana Country Club?

As published on the club's membership page in 2026, Resident Golf carries a $180,000 initiation fee and monthly dues of $4,080, and Resident Sports a $120,000 initiation fee and $1,840 a month. Fees change, so confirm the current figures with the club.

Do you have to join the club to buy a home in Toscana?

Listings generally describe membership as available rather than required, and the club handles the membership process after a home sale. Because golf memberships are capped, buyers should check availability and terms with the club before purchasing.

Who designed the golf courses at Toscana?

Both the North and South courses are Jack Nicklaus Signature designs. The South opened in 2005 and the North was completed in stages, with its final eight holes built from late 2014.

Are there homes for sale in Toscana Country Club?

Yes, though nearly all of the 631 original homes and homesites have sold, so most opportunities are resales. Sunrise Company's onsite sales office and local agents track what is available.
